Home Guard are an old variety but still hugely popular, well known for their early lifting ability. Introduced in 1942, Home Guard was the main potato during the Second World War and a commercial success due to its consistent high yields of fresh, tasty potatoes.
These have white skins and white flesh, short, oval tubers, with shallow eyes, and are the most common shape for this variety.
Has high disease resistance and is tolerant of heavy wet soil making it an ideal variety for our climate. Bake, boil, chip or mash them.
First Earlies are typically ready for harvesting around 13-15 weeks from planting.
